Thelma Chappell Obituary

Mrs. Thelma Jackson Chappell was born in Jenkinsville County on April 22, 1945 to Walter Jackson and Maybelle Roberts Jackson. She was the last of ten children. On Saturday, July 10, 2021 Thelma departed this earthly life. Thelma is a graduate of McCroey-Listen High School in the class of 1965. Thelma was the Captain of her youth softball team/ She began her faith journey as a child at Mt. McNair.

Thelma met the love of her life Melvin; through the marriage they were blessed with four children. She enjoyed and loved cooking, cleaning, and dancing. Thelma was the life of the party. She was an amazing, kind, and gentle wife, mom, and women. Thelma loved her family. She was caretaker to her parents, nieces, and nephews. Thelma enjoyed going to free line. She will help those in need. Thelma feed the homeless people daily. She was know as the neighborhood mother. Thelma worked at Ward and Whitman chocolate for fifteen year. She later started working for Southeastern Public Transportation Authority (SEPTA) as Custodian Worker. She retired from SEPTA after 19 years.

Thelma leaves to cherish memories her husband Melvin Chappell, Sr for 56 years, children: Melvina Chappell (Dennis Thomas), Debra Chappell, Melvin Chappell Jr (Charlene), Merrill Chappell Sr. (MyResha), grandchildren: Otis, Dyshawn, Krystal, Shakeera, Walter, Faith, Merrill Jr., Melvin Tre, Anthony, Tyreek, Robbyn and Morgan, great grandchildren: Ayanna, Ederik, Brooklyn, Melanie, Kerson, Kilmora and one on the way. Godson: Robert Pearson and Michael Harvey and one goddaughter: Tieast Tucker, one brother-in-law Arthur Chappell, two sister-in-law Mary Lee McCullough and Elizabeth Johnson.
