Clara Alston Dennis

Clara "Monk" Dennis was born on November 21, 1955. A native of Rembert, SC to the late Josh and Louise Alston. She graduated from Hilllcrest High School; Class of 1974.

Clara was the wife and best friend of Charles Dennis for 31 wonderful years.  They resided in Rembert where they raised three beautiful children together.  Clara was a woman of her word, a woman that knew the word, and a woman that lived the word.  She was a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church for many years until she was no longer able to attend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Louise Alston; her aunt Mary Stavis; three siblings, Charlie Alston, Josh Alston, and Joseph "Butch" Alston;  nieces and nephews, Linzie Holder, Valerie Patterson, Laura Jean Jenkins, Jacobia Enlish-Lane, and Omar Patterson; and one sister-in-law, Lois Alston.

Clara Departed this life on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her residence.

Clara leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Charles Dennis; three children, Kimberly (David) Wells, Dominique Dennis, and Keavonte (Franshon) Dennis; five siblings, Eloise (William) Davis, Barbara (Arthur) Alston, Laura English, Lenora (Frederick) Holder, and Queenie Chapman; two grandchildren, Khloe Wells and Kingsley Wells; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A public walk-through will be Tuesday September 15, 2020 from 4-6 P.M.  Funeral Services will be held Wednesday September 16, 2020at A-Life Memorial Chapel, 804 Laurens Street; Camden, SC 29020.  Funeral service can be viewed live stream on our Facebook page A.D. Givens Funeral Services.  A limited number of persons will be allowed in the chapel at the discretion of the family.  Please contact family.
